Building Safety Fund

As of 1st September 2025, the government officially closed the Building Safety Fund (BSF) to new applicants. The BSF has been a source of funding for cladding remediation on residential buildings over 18 metres since it was launched in 2020.

This marks a significant turning point for our industry and while current BSF-funded projects will continue as planned, no new applications can be submitted.

As a result, future cladding remediation funding will rely on alternative programmes and government schemes, with one key development being the enhanced role of the Cladding Safety Scheme (CSS).

It has received an additional £1 billion to support buildings between 11 and 18 metres and is now the primary route for funding remediation in this height band to deliver continued progress in improving building safety. Future funding pathways are evolving so stakeholders need to stay informed and adaptable as new information emerges.

The focus on delivering safe, durable cladding solutions is more important than ever and open collaboration across contractors, clients, regulators and funding bodies will be critical to maintain momentum in addressing risks.

As a company we’re committed to supporting safety and compliance and we’re here to help our clients navigate these changes.
